Why can't I enter an email address for a company?

Only persons have an email address; you also link a general address to a person.

In OWNER, only a person has an email address, a company doesn't. That's why you record a general address, such as info@company.com or accounts@company.com, as a person and link it to the company.

Why does it work this way?

  • You always know where to find an email: with the person. You don't have to search both persons and companies.
  • Each email address is in only one place. This prevents duplicate contact details.
  • OWNER automatically links incoming and outgoing emails to the right person. That only works reliably if each email address belongs to one person.

How to do it

  1. Create a person via Contacts > Persons, for example with the name "Accounts" and the email address accounts@company.com.
  2. Link the person to the company. Read How do I link a person to a company?.

Tip: Should a business tenant's sales invoices go to a general address? Then add that person to the rental contract.
