OWNER Wallet or accounting integration: how do you process payments?

Two ways to receive payments and update your accounting

Do you prefer to receive rent and other payments in OWNER itself, or do you process them in your own accounting package? OWNER supports both. In this article, you'll see the difference and which method suits you.

Two methods

OWNER Wallet is expected in late 2026. Until then, you can use OWNER Pay or an accounting integration. In this article, you can already read how OWNER Wallet will work.

OWNER creates and sends your sales invoices. For what happens next – receiving the payment and processing it in your accounting – you have two options:

  1. OWNER Wallet – you receive and manage the money in OWNER itself, in a real bank account per owner. OWNER processes the payments; you update your accounting with a single journal entry. This is the method we recommend.
  2. Accounting integration – you connect OWNER to your accounting package. OWNER sends the sales invoices to the package, you process payments there, and the payment status comes back to OWNER.

OWNER Wallet: everything in OWNER

With OWNER Wallet, each owner has their own real bank account in OWNER. Tenants pay their sales invoices into that account, and OWNER automatically matches each incoming payment to the right open sales invoice. So you always see right away who has paid, without any manual work.

  • The money stays in the Wallet until you transfer it.
  • You update your accounting with the journal entry under Insights → Journal entries. It currently includes your sales invoices; purchase invoices will be added later.
  • Tenants pay by bank transfer, iDEAL, credit card, Klarna, EPS, Giropay, Billie, Google Pay, Apple Pay or Bancontact. You decide which payment methods a debtor can use.
  • Later, you'll also be able to pay purchase invoices from your Wallet. They'll then appear on the journal entry too.
  • Later, the journal entry will also be exchanged automatically with your accounting package. Until then, you post it yourself or have your accountant post it.

Accounting integration: your accounting package stays leading

Do you prefer to work from your own accounting package? Then connect OWNER to Exact Online, AFAS, Twinfield, SnelStart or Multivers. Sales invoices and relations are sent to the package automatically. Tenants pay into your own bank account; you or your accountant match the payments in the accounting package, and OWNER picks up the payment status.

Frequently asked questions

Choosing and switching

Which method do you recommend?

OWNER Wallet. You then have everything in one place: sales invoices, incoming payments and soon also paying purchase invoices. OWNER processes the payments automatically, so you and your accountant no longer have to reconcile payments.

I currently use OWNER Pay. What changes?

OWNER Pay is being replaced by OWNER Wallet (expected late 2026). You keep the same account; your account just needs to be verified again. The difference: with OWNER Pay, the money went into a third-party escrow account and was transferred after a few days; with OWNER Wallet, you have a real bank account of your own in OWNER and decide yourself when to transfer money. Your tenants can keep paying with the same payment methods.

I currently have an accounting integration. Can I switch?

Yes. Contact support; we'll help you switch to OWNER Wallet.

Does my accountant need to do anything differently with OWNER Wallet?

Yes: instead of individual sales invoices and payments, your accountant posts the journal entry from OWNER (Insights → Journal entries). See Updating your financial administration.
