Which email address does the sales invoice go to, and can it go to several?

One recipient per sales invoice; here's how to handle multiple tenants.

A sales invoice always goes to one recipient at one email address. Are two tenants renting a property together and do they both want a sales invoice? Then there are a few options.

How it works with one rental contract

  • Each rental contract has one debtor. The sales invoice is in that tenant's name.
  • The sales invoice goes to one email address. Sending to multiple email addresses or in cc isn't possible yet.
  • You can, however, give multiple people access to the rental contract. They then see the sales invoices in their own OWNER account. See How do I share a rental contract with a tenant?

A separate sales invoice for each tenant

Want each tenant to be invoiced for their own share of the rent? Then create two rental contracts on the same unit:

  1. Create a person or company for the second tenant.
  2. Create a separate rental contract for this tenant on the same unit.
  3. For each rental contract, use sales items to record the share of the rent that applies to that tenant.

OWNER then prepares two sales invoices per period: one per tenant. The split is administrative only; you don't need to change the lease agreement with your tenants.
