# Persons
## All the people you deal with, and through whom all communication runs.
Persons are all the people you deal with: tenants, company contacts, service provider staff, inspectors and other relations. All communication in OWNER goes through persons.

## What is a person in OWNER?
A person is always a natural person. If you rent to a private individual, the tenant is a person. If you rent to a company, you create the company and link persons to it as contacts.
Persons are unique based on their email address. As a result, incoming and outgoing emails are automatically linked to the right person, and you can't create two persons with the same email address.
You can find your persons under Contacts \> Persons.
## Creating a person
### Step 1 – Open persons
1. Go to **Contacts \> Persons** and click **New**.
### Step 2 – Fill in the details
1. Fill in at least an email address, first name or last name. Fill in the email address if you know it.
2. Set the person's language.
3. Save the person.
**Tip:** You don't need to create a tenant in advance. You can also add a person directly from the rental contract.
## Language and communication
Sales invoices, indexation letters, work orders and inspections go to persons, in the language set for that person. Read more in [In which language does someone receive a sales invoice, indexation letter, work order or inspection?](https://knowledge.owner.app/en/document-language?hsLang=en).
On a person's page, you see the activities in the middle, such as emails, notes and tasks. On the right, you see what the person is linked to, such as companies, rental contracts and tickets.
## Giving access to a rental contract
