# Documents

## Store, generate, sign and share documents with the item they belong to.

With documents, you store files such as leases, addenda, floor plans and signed paperwork. You can also generate documents from a template and have them signed digitally.

## Where do you save a document?

Save a document with the item it belongs to. That way you can always find it in the logical place:

| Document | Save it with |
| --- | --- |
| Lease and addenda | The upload area in the middle of the rental contract |
| Contract with a supplier | The service contract |
| Inspection report | The inspection |

You can see all documents together under **Files \> Documents**. There you can filter, for example by type or date.

## What can you do with documents?

| What | How |
| --- | --- |
| Upload | Upload a file to the right item or via **Files \> Documents**. |
| Generate | Create a document from your own template, for example your lease. Read more in [Templates](https://knowledge.owner.app/en/templates?hsLang=en). |
| Sign | Have a document signed digitally. Read more in [How do I create a document and have it signed digitally?](https://knowledge.owner.app/en/create-and-sign-document?hsLang=en). |
| Share with the tenant | Documents in the upload area in the middle of the rental contract are visible to persons with access to the rental contract. If you don't want to show a document, hide it from the tenant. |

## Good to know

- There's no limit to the number of documents. A single file can be up to 250 MB. Read more in [Is there a limit to the number of documents or images I can upload?](https://knowledge.owner.app/en/upload-limit?hsLang=en).
- You manage document templates under **Settings \> Modules \> Files \> Documents**.
