# Companies
## Organizations you work with, such as business tenants and service providers.
Companies are the organizations you deal with, such as business tenants, service providers and other business relations. Preferably start with the domain name: OWNER then fills in a lot of details for you.

## What is a company in OWNER?
If you work with an organization instead of a private individual, you record it as a company. You link one or more [persons](https://knowledge.owner.app/en/persons?hsLang=en) to a company as contacts.
A company doesn't have an email address of its own: communication always goes through persons. Read why in [Why can't I enter an email address for a company?](https://knowledge.owner.app/en/company-email-address?hsLang=en).
## Creating a company
### Step 1 – Open companies
1. Go to **Contacts \> Companies** and click **New**.
### Step 2 – Start with the domain name
1. Enter the company's domain name, for example company.com. You can also start with the company name, but the domain name is faster.
2. OWNER fills in the logo and company details via the [OWNER community](https://community.owner.app). Check the details and complete them where needed.
3. Save the company.
Preferably start with the company's domain name.
## What does the domain name give you?
- The logo and company details are filled in automatically.
- If the company is a service provider for property owners, you see the reviews from the OWNER community. That makes it easier to choose a reliable party.
- Persons with an email address on the same domain can be linked to the company automatically. Read more in [What is the difference between Domain and Website for a company?](https://knowledge.owner.app/en/company-domain-vs-website?hsLang=en).
## Other details
You can also enter a Peppol ID for a company, so you can send sales invoices via the Peppol network. Read more in [Peppol](https://knowledge.owner.app/en/peppol?hsLang=en).
On the right side of the company you see what it's linked to, such as persons and contracts. Like all lists in OWNER, you can export your companies to Excel.
