# How do I change the tenant on a rental contract?

## Edit the rental contract and choose the new tenant.

Is a new tenant taking over the rental contract? Then edit the rental contract and choose the new tenant. Future sales invoices will then be in the new tenant's name.

## How to change the tenant

1. Go to **Contracts \> Rental contracts** and open the rental contract.
2. Click the pencil to edit the rental contract.
3. Remove the current tenant and choose the new tenant in the **Tenants** field.
4. Save the rental contract.

Does the rental contract have multiple tenants? Then the next sales invoice goes to the primary tenant that's been set.

## After changing

- Should the new tenant be able to view the contract themselves? Add the person to the rental contract and give access. Read [How do I share a rental contract with a tenant?](https://knowledge.owner.app/en/share-rental-contract-with-tenant?hsLang=en).
- Only the name or email address of the same tenant is changing? Then you don't need to change the tenant. Edit the person and update the details.
